Immaculate Conception School held a dress-down day March 23. Each student was allowed to dress out of uniform and give $1 to support childhood cancer research at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. This fundraiser operated through the Fayetteville Fire Department, of which Father Zachary Miller is a volunteer.

Sixth-grader David Tyrel was inspired to write a letter and get permission from Principal Donald Mills to have his head shaved for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. According to its website, the foundation is a “volunteer and donor powered charity committed to supporting the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.”

David and IC School collected $220 to reach his goal of $1,000 for the cause. David’s mom is also a Fayetteville Fire Department volunteer, and his sister, Clara Rose, is currently the Miss Heart of NY’s Outstanding Teen 2018.
