DEWITT — Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) has awarded faculty member Matt Keough “Lasallian Educator of the Year” for the 2014-15 school year.

Keough, who has taught math at CBA since 2004, was nominated by his colleagues.

Keough, a graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School and Hamilton College, is the Chairman of the Faculty and Staff Mission and Ministry Team at CBA helping to foster and enhance the vision and mission of St. John Baptist de La Salle among all partners and stakeholders, and to take a proactive role in the continued process of Lasallian Christian Formation.  Keough also coaches basketball and baseball. Last year Keough was one of 10 Lasallian faculty members in the country who was selected to be a member of the Lasallian Region of North America’s (RELAN) delegation to the Symposium, held in Rome, Italy.

“This award is particularly special to me because it is not simply the Educator of the Year, but the Lasallian Educator of the Year,” stated Keough.  “My vocation has never been to solely be a good math teacher. My vocation is to offer my students an educational experience that helps to develop character, inspire values and encourage a dedication to develop their God-given gifts to share with, and help, others.”
