LIVERPOOL — On May 22, the parish families of Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Joseph the Worker shared a day of worship and community Italian style at “Domenica Cena con La Familia,” Sunday Dinner with the Family. The event was hosted by the Military Ministry in honor of Armed Forces Day.

The Military Ministry was created in a spirit of hospitality and faith to acknowledge veterans and those still serving our country.

Two statues of St. Michael, purchased through parishioner donations, were blessed by pastor Father Daniel O’Hara during noon Mass. The statues are a tribute to the veterans whose names are inscribed in the Military Book of Remembrance displayed with each statue. Honorees are also remembered each day during morning rosary recitation led by the Legion of Mary.

Following noon Mass, all were invited to share a traditional Sunday dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, served by parish volunteers.

John Cerrone called several games of Bingo in Italian. Tom Anzalone; Sister Rosemarie Caravaglio, CSJ; Suzanne Cerrone; Carl Lovell; Joe Zarr; and Tom Witkowski provided Italian musical entertainment which added to the festive mood of dining “al fresco.” Dessert of cannoli, Italian cookies, and espresso was enjoyed by everyone!

All are welcome to attend any event sponsored by the Military Ministry. For more information, call Anne Marie Lara at (315) 263-5853.
