The diocese’s Office of Faith Formation and Disability Commission are launching an initiative to support catechists, Catholic school teachers, and parents teaching faith formation to children with autism.
“Autism in Faith Formation” is an online course to be offered through the University of Dayton’s Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF). The course will begin on Jan. 15, 2017, and end on Feb. 18, 2017. It is an adult education course and does not carry college credit. Tuition is $50 plus the cost of books.
Partial tuition scholarships are being made available: Working with the diocesan Disabilities Commission, the Knights of Columbus will offer $20 scholarships. These scholarships are available to all participants. Catechists teaching in parish faith formation programs may also apply for additional partial scholarships of $30, offered through the Heritage Fund resources administered by the Faith Formation Office. Participants are responsible to buy their own books.

Scholarship applications are due no later than Dec. 9, 2016. Specific instructions on how to register will be provided in the scholarship award letter.
