Seton Catholic Central’s mock trial team won four rounds of regional competition April 22 in Ithaca. The team advanced to compete against eight other regional winners for the state championship May 22 in Albany.
Seton’s team members are Brendan Burtis, Tom Davis, Jacob Donlin, Christine Fang, Elisa Faughnan, Angela Klawiter, Olivia Li, Joe Ryan, and Sarah Majercik-Scott. The team is coached by Seton teacher Dave Jones and attorney Elizabeth Sopinski.
“Seton’s team competed in and won four separate trial contests on Saturday defeating teams from throughout southern and central New York,” said Richard Bucci, president of the Catholic Schools of Broome County. “This exceptional achievement is the result of the team’s strong analytical, communication, and strategic planning skills. They will effectively represent our region at the state capital.”
