Mattydale — To celebrate St. Francis’ love for animals, the first-graders in Lisa Perla’s class at St. Margaret’s School took up a school-wide collection for Helping Hounds Dog Rescue. The first-graders did all the readings for the Oct. 4 St. Francis Day Mass, which was celebrated by Msgr. J. Eugene M. Yennock. As a reward for collecting the donations, the school got a special visit from one of the dogs from the Helping Hounds shelter on Oct. 5.
