Lisa Hall, of the diocesan Office of Family Life Education, offered the following statement on “Amoris Laetitia” April 8:
Pope Francis’ “The Joy of Love” will give us much to think about, discuss, and pray over in the coming years.
We appreciate that the pope has leaned on the works of his predecessors (previous popes and the long history of the Church) to affirm Church teaching on the family.
At the same time, we also appreciate his acknowledgement of the difficulties many families face today.
We look forward to the same challenge in our practice of Family Ministry in the diocese of Syracuse. Affirming our Church’s long, rich history of love and appreciation for God’s creation of the family, while doing all we can to welcome and accompany families in the midst of difficulty.
