This Christmas, students at Cathedral Academy at Pompei (CAP) in Syracuse gifted their parents with unique artwork created from unglazed dinnerware from the former
Syracuse China factory in Salina. The factory closed in 2009 and the company that purchased the factory in 2011 was preparing to dispose of the china late last year, but instead chose to offer it to local schools and the public for use in art projects. CAP art teacher Tina Seymour collected numerous pieces of the china for CAP students to paint and decorate as Christmas gifts for their parents.
Above, students (left to right) Aliena Jones, Achol Aroman, Aroupiny Ater and Rowan Quintyn show off their artistic talents.
