The Catholic Sun, with the Catholic Schools Office and the Diocese of Syracuse, sponsored Catholic Schools Night at NBT Bank Stadium, home of the Syracuse Chiefs baseball team, June 4. Before the game that pitted the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders
(the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees) against the Syracuse Chiefs, Catholic Schools Superintendent Bill Crist and “Coby the Cobra,” mascot for Bishop Grimes Jr./Sr. High School, joined other dignitaries in throwing out a ceremonial “first” pitch. The night proved to be a win for celebrating Catholic schools, but a loss for the Chiefs, who were bested by the RailRiders 10-2.
