DEWITT — Students from Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) class of 2016, along with alumni, took time this summer to help those in need.

In July, a group of students carried on a school tradition of volunteering at Camp Sunshine, a camp that supports children battling life-threatening illnesses, located in Maine. CBA students provided assistance to campers and their families, helping them enjoy a fun-filled week of activities.

In August, a second group of students journeyed for the first mission trip to Camden, N.J., one of the poorest cities in the country. In Camden, students performed maintenance duties such as painting at Heart of Camden, which provides homeownership opportunities to over 170 families in South Camden; made 2,200 sandwiches at Camden Food Bank; helped out at an Adult Day/Child Care Program; and assisted with activities at Abigail House for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Before leaving Camden, the students completed their mission trip by serving dinner to over 500 people at a soup kitchen.
