MAINE —  Most Holy Rosary Church, Maine Federated Church and Union Center Christian Church, all in Maine, N.Y., combined efforts to create “Camp Edge” vacation bible school this summer.

Jim Tokos, town supervisor for Maine, a member of  Most Holy Rosary Parish and faith formation teacher, and an elementary school teacher at Maine Memorial School, proposed the idea in January to combine the town’s summer recreation program with a weeklong Vacation Bible School program. The three local churches worked together with more than 30 volunteers to create a cohesive program that brought faith, fellowship and fun to 100 students in Maine.

“We served breakfast, amazing snacks and lunches and sent goodie bags home with everyone,” stated Tokos. “No one left hungry. The students experienced stories from the bible, shared personal stories, helped with an outreach program for others, prayed and played and spent the afternoons at Greenwood Park. We [the churches] are many parts, but all of one body as we worked together to spread the Gospel message. It was an amazing experience.
