On April 24 the Syracuse community will come together to support the lifesaving work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the Syracuse for St. Jude Gala. The event, formerly known as the Dominic and Patricia Rossi Memorial Dinner, will feature an award to honor an individual whose faith is seen through her efforts to make the community a better place.

The first-time recipient of the Dominic and Patricia Rossi Award, named in memory of two Cicero natives who succumbed to cancer in their early 50s, will be Toni Maxwell, associate director of Catholic Charities of Onondaga County.

Maxwell, a resident of Syracuse, has held numerous executive positions in national, regional and local nonprofits. She earned a B.S. degree in Business Management and Economics from SUNY Empire State College. She attained Certified Fund Raising Executive status through CFRE International, the only internationally-recognized baseline professional credential for philanthropic fundraising executives.

Maxwell serves as a member of the New York State Fair Advisory Board and Syracuse University’s Thursday Morning Roundtable Advisory Committee. Previous volunteer commitments include service on the boards of directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals of CNY, the Humane Association of CNY, and Child Care Solutions.

Since its inception in 2006, the event has raised more than $210,000 for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For more information on the event and to purchase tickets, visit www.stjude.org/syracuseforstjude.
