“‘Around the Diocese’ is a new program available on the diocesan YouTube channel to bring our Catholic Faith to those in our diocese and beyond,” stated Daniele Cummings, chancellor for the Diocese of Syracuse and director of communications. New programs presented by Catholic Television and hosted by Father Christopher Seibt will be featured each Wednesday and highlight local news in the diocese for the week as well news from the Vatican and stories in the Catholic Sun. The program also gives a weekly “media minute” offering tips on social media.
“For years Catholic TV equated to Mass for Shut-ins but through donations to the Diocese and the Hope Appeal Ministry, new state-of-the-art television equipment was purchased allowing us to communicate in a way that people now expect from the media. We are doing what the Pope has asked us to do by ‘Going where the people are,’” stated Cummings. “Through the television production efforts of Rick Mossotti, we are sharing our Catholic faith, telling our story and inviting people to be part of our diocese.” To watch “Around the Diocese” and become a free subscriber to the diocesean YouTube channel visit www.youtube.com/user/syrdio.
In addition to the new television program, the diocese has recently updated its website, www.syracusediocese.org. The redesign is currently live on the site and offers an improved user experience with new links and a more organized layout.
“The new website design has given us an opportunity to reevaluate our content and help communicate the information that people need to know,” stated Nicole Chenet, communications and social media specialist for the diocese. “The design now focuses more on evangelization and inviting all people to hear the message and be witnesses to our faith on a digital platform.”
