The 2015 Bishop’s Cup Cathedral Classic golf tournament will hit the Links at Erie Village in East Syracuse July 13, aiming again to raise funds to support maintenance and renovation efforts at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse.

Cathedral staff last year estimated that the church, with its cornerstone as St. Mary’s Church laid in 1874, needs more than $2 million in repairs. Necessary renovations include a new roof and work on the heating and plumbing systems, the pews and kneelers, and the decorative masonry.

The first tournament last year saw 40 golfers from 11 parishes in the diocese’s Western Region participate. The title cup was shared between two winners: Dan Didio of St. Mary’s of the Lake and Steve Breen, event co-founder and parishioner of the Cathedral. The event grossed upwards of $50,000.

This year’s tournament will see the following exciting additions:
   • Golfers from the entire diocese are invited to participate. Visit bishopscup.com to register.
   • Gerry McNamara and Mike Hopkins of Syracuse University basketball fame will be Celebrity Golfers.
   • The prize for a hole-in-one is a Harley Davidson motorcycle!
