Oswego Health and State Senator Patty Ritchie are hosting the “Power of Pink,” an inspirational event to provide women with the latest information on the prevention and treatment of breast cancer on Oct. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the lobby of the Fulton Medical Center, 510 S. Fourth St., in Fulton. Featured speakers, surgeons Allison Duggan, MD and Dawn Holman, MD, will share their expertise on breast care and breast cancer at 6 p.m.

Women from throughout the community are welcome to attend this free event, where they can learn steps to prevent breast cancer, become informed about local breast cancer services and listen to the informational program provided by the two Oswego Health physicians.

Free mammograms along with a clinical exam will be available for women over the age of 40 who have not had the screenings in the past three years. Community members can take advantage of the free screenings from 7 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. the day of the event. Appointments are recommended and can be made by calling (315) 349-5513.

Sponsoring this event is State Senator Patty Ritchie. “With breast cancer being the second most common form of cancer affecting women, it’s critical that females take steps — like having regular mammograms — to protect their health,” said Senator Ritchie.

“We are pleased to be working with State Senator Patty Ritchie and our other healthcare partners to improve the health status of our community,” said Oswego Health’s Director of Community Health Services Brenda LaMay, FNP. “This is an opportunity for women to educate themselves on a very important topic.”
