ROME — Students in Marissa Brown’s pre-K class at Rome Catholic School built an igloo from used milk and water containers over the winter. On Earth Day, students learned that their dismantled igloo can once again be recycled to make something else. Each student had the opportunity to take down a few containers at a time, crush them (which was the best part of all) and place them in the recycle bin. They learned that recycling not only helps our planet, but it also helps to make other items that can be used in everyday life.

Above, students Makaya Riley and Gary Reese take a turn at dismantling the igloo and giving the containers a good stomp before placing them in the recycle bin.
