SOLVAY — Ryan Fogg, 14, a Star Scout, a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church and a student at West Genesee Middle School, was awarded the prestigious Ad Altare Dei Faith program award for scouting at Mass on April 12. To earn the award, Ryan and his parents, Tina and Dennis Fogg, worked together for several months on community and family projects based on the seven sacraments under the guidance of Father Joseph J. Clemente, Deacon Kenneth N. Money and Msgr. James P. Lang.

The Ad Altare Dei Faith program was initiated in 1945 and was the first religious program of any kind for Boy Scouts. “I was interested in church and wanted to see how this program could relate to Boy Scouts,” stated Ryan. “I learned about teamwork and how to help out with my community, my church and in my family.”

Following Mass, members of the St. Cecilia community enjoyed a chance to congratulate Ryan and his family at a reception.
