Shea wins SPC award

Congratulations to Pat Shea, associate editor of the Catholic Sun, on winning first place in the Syracuse Press Club’s 37th Annual Professional Recognition Awards for Best Human Interest Feature for a non-daily newspaper. Shea’s article, “A mother’s prayer, a child’s future,” appeared in the Sun’s Feb. 13, 2014 issue. The story highlighted the journey of a young Haitian boy, Pelensky Joassin, who came to Syracuse seeking medical treatment and found a loving home with the Kreis family and a supportive community at Holy Cross Church and School.
