St. Charles-St. Ann Youth in Ministry (YIM) (pictued above) gave new meaning to Super Bowl Sunday Feb. 1 with their participation in the “Souper” Bowl of Caring.

The Souper Bowl of Caring began 25 years ago with a simple prayer from a youth group: “Lord even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” Since that day, more than $100 million has been raised for local charities across the country through the Souper Bowl of Caring.

St. Charles-St. Ann YIM high school youth group joined the effort this year with a pancake breakfast to benefit Assumption Food Pantry & Health Clinic. Forty-seven teens served pancakes throughout the day, and $1,000 was raised for Franciscan Northside Ministries.
