Students become famous figures to promote reading

FAYETTEVILLE —  Immaculate Conception School’s third grade classes of Doreen Kabot and Kim Fuller presented in March their rendition of a wax museum. The program was part of the activities for the Knights and Ladies Round Table Reading Program, which began at the school in September. Each student is required as part of the program to read at least two books a month and write a book report. Each month has a theme; March’s theme centered on biographies. Students were required not only to read and write a report on a famous person, but also to dress up as that person to create a “wax figure” in a fictitious museum. Students of the school, as well as parents and friends, attended the museum and tickets were sold to bring each famous person to life so they could share details about his/her life. The money raised by ticket sales was donated to the school’s library.
